Read on to learn more about the many great things to do in Pwllheli and North Wales during your next holiday at Gimblet Rock Holiday Park.

Best Things to do in Pwllheli

Our resort is situated in Pwllheli, a seaside market town which is famous for being a prime location for watersports. This is no doubt aided by the quality of the sea waters surrounding the region and its glorious beaches. As the name suggests, Gimblet Rock is actually situated right next to Gimblet Rock beach, ensuring that our holiday makers have its golden sands located right on their holiday home doorstep.

Just a short walk away from our resort is Pwllheli marina. This is a great location to head to if you enjoy a spot of people watching, with this harbour being one of the busiest in the region. In the opposite direction is the historic Pwllheli promenade which provides similar opportunities for sightseeing in addition to access to the centre of town itself.

If you happen to be staying with us on a Wednesday, then we’d advise paying a visit to the popular Pwllheli market which has been a mainstay in the region since the 14th century. There is also an eclectic collection of Pwllheli shops to explore, with the town being filled by quirky local entrepreneurs and famous high street names.

World Famous North Wales Attractions

One of the primary reasons that North Wales has been named one of the best places to visit by Lonely Planet is the wide selection of visitor attractions that the region has to offer. This includes world famous natural wonders such as Snowdonia which is sure to prove to be a real challenge for rambling enthusiasts. Nevertheless, it is still well worth making the journey all the way to the top so that you can admire the wonderful views that are on offer overlooking the beautiful North Wales region.

If walking isn’t really your thing but you’d still like to marvel at the vistas Snowdon affords, then you can simply hop on the Snowdon Mountain Railway which will take you all the way to the summit.

One of the slightly more modern attractions that is attracting visitors from across the world is the ever growing ZipWorld. Home to the world’s fastest zipline, you can partake in a number of adrenaline fuelled adventures including underground climbing, downhill go-karting and of course that thrilling zipline where you will achieve speeds of up to 100mph.

Things to Do With Kids in Pwllheli

There are also plenty of things to do with kids in Pwllheli, with the nearby ZipWorld also being home to a fun crazy golf course and Bounce Below where your offspring will have a whale of a time on the trampoline style nets underneath a disused mine.

Another attraction that is a great choice for a family day out in Pwllheli is Glasfryn Parc Activity Centre. Here your kids can unleash their inner Lewis Hamilton on the outdoor go-karting circuit or you can all enjoy a fun game of ten pin bowling.

Things to Do in Pwllheli in the Rain

If it all sounds a little fast paced for your liking, then you will be pleased to know that there are plenty of slightly more sedate indoor attractions in Pwllheli. This includes a large number of historic landmarks including the nearby Plas yn Rhiw; a 16th century manor house which is operated by the National Trust where you learn about the lives of the fascinating individuals who have lived in the property since its construction.

Another great attraction to take advantage of during a rainy day in Pwllheli is the Plas Glyn y Weddw art gallery which has an ever changing schedule or exhibitions which are sure to peak the attention of the art enthusiasts amongst you.

Whilst you are visiting Plas Glyn y Weddw, we would advise you to pay a visit to their cafe which has recently won the prestigious 'Little Gem' award at the Royal Fine Arts Commission Trust Building Beauty Awards. The food is almost as impressive as the structure itself, with the cafe team utilising fresh local ingredients to create all manner of traditional Welsh cuisine.
